Bono, real name Paul Hewson, rechristened himself Bono Vox – Good voice, Great voice. Born May, 1960 in Dublin, Bono is lead singer of the band U2, who formed when Bono was 17 at Mount Temple, Ireland’s first comprehensive School. U2 started with 3 chords, 4 people and an audience of 10 (paraphrased from the book “Bono in his own words”)
Bono is not just a lead singer in one of the biggest and most successful bands of all-time, he is a worldwide inspiration. In addition to being a singer and songwriter, performer and creative wordsmith, Bono has global influence for the whole of humanity. Through inner and outer passion and power Bono is an ambassador for global harmony, peace and positive change. He blends an outspoken fire and desire with being spiritual, humble and grounded.
U2 have continued for many decades because of their strength and determination; pulling together as a team and harnessing each member’s unique contribution. Bono and U2 are a success, through dedication, they are persistent and consistent. Whilst inventive and original they still retain their unique image and style, and remain unmistakably U2. It’s hard to imagine the worldwide music scene without the impact and influence of the legend that is U2. A legacy of passion, of power in music, and of reaching the hearts of billions around the globe.
U2’s music has a timeless quality about it, I listened and loved them in my youth and still do now – their songs remain fresh and crisp. There is a solid quality about U2 that I think will ensure they are always hip, cool, trendy and in fashion. Their sound and the voice of Bono never seem out of date – the quality of the magical “it”. U2 have got it and Bono has got it – driving rock or soothing ballad, a cappella, choir or full orchestra, the soul of their sound is ever present.
